Global democracy projects

Many organisations and initiatives have worked, and continue to work, towards stronger global cooperation, governance or democracy. Their goals and methods differ widely: some are intergovernmental institutions, others are forums, campaigns, research networks or small citizen initiatives. Together they form the historical and contemporary landscape in which United Earth seeks to contribute, and where we hope to find partners for collaboration and mutual support.

The list below ranges from large established organisations to initiatives run by a few people, sorted by the year they were founded. Inclusion does not imply affiliation, endorsement or shared positions. If you find errors or know of other relevant projects, please let us know!

An invitation to collaborate

We are reaching out to organisations and initiatives listed above to introduce United Earth, invite corrections to their entries in our overview, and explore opportunities for dialogue, collaboration and mutual support.

To make our intentions clear and transparent, we publish the general invitation below. Individual messages may include additional information relevant to each recipient.

Subject: Uniting Global Governance Initiatives – A Call for Collaboration

Dear fellow Earth citizen,

We are reaching out from the United Earth initiative, which is developing a proposal for a democratic global federation and a practical path towards establishing it.

Our vision centres on an Earth Parliament, a federation of semi-sovereign blocs, and strong regional and local self-government based on subsidiarity. We also propose AGORA, a global digital environment for knowledge-based participation, deliberation and democratic voting, initially within a proto-organisation that people everywhere can help develop and test.

The proposal is presented in WHY – WHAT – HOW, available at united.earth.

We recognise that organisations and initiatives working towards better global governance have different histories, priorities and approaches. We see this diversity as an opportunity to exchange knowledge, learn from one another and explore forms of collaboration that respect everyone’s independence.

As part of this effort, we have compiled an overview, including your initiative here:

We would welcome your help in improving it. Is any information about your organisation inaccurate or incomplete? Are there details we should correct or add?

More broadly, we would be interested to hear how you see the prospects for greater cooperation among initiatives working towards global democracy and more effective global governance.

We hope this can be the beginning of a constructive dialogue and would be glad to explore opportunities for mutual support.

With appreciation and solidarity,

United Earth initiative
