Establishing the organisation

United Earth is developing a proto-organisation through which humanity can build and test the foundations of a global democratic system.

The United Earth Foundation (UEf) will provide the permanent, independent organisational structure needed to support this undertaking. Established as a self-owning, non-profit Norwegian foundation, it will safeguard United Earth’s shared assets, operate and develop essential infrastructure, and provide the professional capacity needed for the initiative’s continued development.

Its responsibilities include the stewardship of AGORA and other digital infrastructure, the administration of common resources and support for the institutions being developed under the United Earth Pact.

The Foundation’s institutional responsibilities and limitations are described under Organisation.

Existing assets

The initiative already has a substantial body of intellectual property and digital assets developed during its initial phase, from 2023 to 2026.

The results include:

WWH — WHY, WHAT, HOW: the comprehensive theoretical foundation of the initiative, published online and in downloadable document formats.

Five interconnected WordPress installations, providing the initial infrastructure for United Earth, AGORA, Councils, transitional political participation and development.

Custom software, including publishing tools and other components developed specifically for the initiative.

Original illustrations, models, maps and visual concepts that help communicate and develop the proposal.

The initial organisational and technical framework required to launch the initiative and enable participation.

The Foundation will receive the existing intellectual property rights and digital assets for continued stewardship, development, operation, and publication.

The united.earth domain is financed through a separate acquisition campaign.

Funding and establishment

The campaign is organised by the temporary United Earth Association (UEa, org. no. 832 593 702) and has two funding phases.

Fundraising goal: NOK 1,000,000

Phase 1 — Establishing the Foundation

First NOK 200,000, after campaign costs

This is planned to finance the establishment of the United Earth Foundation under Norwegian law.

This includes foundation capital (NOK 100,000), legal and auditing services, registration, necessary establishment-related meetings and travel, and initial governance arrangements.

The formal establishment process will begin when this threshold is reached. The campaign will continue while the Foundation is being established.

Phase 2 — Operational capital

After Phase 1, the remaining net contributions will fund establishing operations, maintaining website infrastructure, recruiting personnel and developing the initiative.

Building professional operations

The Foundation will provide the organisational and technical capacity needed to develop United Earth beyond its initial phase.

Its first priorities include:

  • Organisational development: Establishing administrative functions, transparent procedures, financial management and accountable governance.
  • People and coordination: Recruiting and supporting volunteers, specialists, advisers and professional staff.
  • Digital infrastructure: Maintaining and developing the websites, AGORA, publishing systems and other essential software.
  • Programmes and projects: Supporting the development of United Earth’s global programmes and practical projects.
  • Communication and outreach: Building relationships with Earth Citizens, organisations, institutions and global democracy networks.
  • Financial sustainability: Developing the fundraising and operational capacity required for subsequent phases.

The original facilitator is available to contribute to the next phase of development if the Foundation wishes to engage him. Any future responsibilities, working arrangements and compensation will be agreed separately.

The Foundation will operate within the United Earth Pact, with its institutional functions and custodial responsibilities progressively transferred to democratically elected institutions as the constituent process advances.

Campaign sequence and transfer

The initial fundraising takes place through two separate campaigns.

The first secures united.earth, the initiative’s principal domain. The domain acquisition follows its own documented financing and ownership-transfer arrangements.

The United Earth Foundation campaign opens after the domain campaign is fully funded.

UEa administers the Foundation campaign, arranges the establishment of UEf and transfers the relevant assets, rights and funds.

The campaign will continue until the Foundation is ready to launch its own campaigns.

The Foundation will then assume responsibility for fundraising through united.earth and continue developing the financial resources needed for the initiative.

The establishment and transfer of funds will be documented and carried out under applicable Norwegian law.

The objective is to establish an independent, professionally capable organisation that can support humanity in building its own democratic institutions.
